Welcome To Our Community
XplorMor is an intention to get out there, to travel and to explore to discover and uncover the Peoples and places of this dynamic planet. XplorMor Team aims to inspire others by following and promoting this adventurous philosophy through coördinated expeditions, engaging photography, news-worthy and informative publications and journal articles that share insight gained on these extraordinary once in a life time journeys.
How did XplorMor begin?
Every intention has a starting point… XplorMor began with a definition…ex•plore (v.) spelled [ ik-spláwr or ik-splohr ].
1. to explore, travel or traverse for the purpose of discovery: to explore in or to journey through a place to discover what it is like or what is there
2. to investigate or study something closely: to make a careful investigation or expedition or study of something through close examination, documentation and photography
3. to search a place, region, area, idea or topic for the first time in hopes of finding something unexpected: to make a search of an unknown range for purpose of getting out there, garnering knowledge and photos, and to be surprisedmore (adj.) spelled [mawr or mohr].
1. in a greater extent or expansion or increase: becoming a greater quantity, amount, measure, degree, scope or number
2. for longer time: for a longer period or duration
3. growth by acquisition or by getting out there: becoming your intention
More About XplorMor:When and Where did XplorMor Begin?
September 2, 2012: XplorMor launched from a rustic wood desk perched at a window in a shanty cabin overlooking a beautiful bay outside Juneau, Alaska. The concept began with these first thoughts…The idea of exploring more is not a new concept. Humankind has had the urge to travel, discover, transform and create for millennia. An innate drive carried us from caves to castles, from the African plain to the Moon, from painted caves and rock carvings to computers and social media. The limit of our exploration, our ability, is as of yet undiscovered. I was born with a heavy dose of this drive. Ready to get out there, to try all things, to be open and present in living life; understanding that it’s the journey, not the destination which garners greatness for the soul.Some would call what I have a zest for life or an inquisitive spirit, others might say a childish naiveté. It’s of no concern either way as this is my life, mine to mold as I wish. And, it wishes to thrive on new adventures in destinations unknown; to share the journey, the lessons learned, and understandings gained. To promote the sensory overload from places explored, plates tasted, monuments seen and mountains scaled, music heard and aromas smelled from the salty air to an English rose.Get Out ThereXplorMor is an intention to get out there, to travel, to explore and to photograph to find enrichment, and to share this richness with others. It’s about the door of opportunity opening, and not just walking through, but helping others to join in the experience. Over time XplorMor will transform and evolve; the beginning is one woman’s explorer journal, ideas and photo gallery, but the limit or end game, just as with humankind’s ability to progress, remains excitedly unknown.I appreciate all who decide to venture on this journey of XplorMor, all who choose to go with or to trail behind, all who offer guidance, wisdom, knowledge or a helping hand. I will do my best to plow a clear, easy path to follow, and with a little luck and some determination, we may actually find ourselves someplace wonderful, sipping on a lovely beverage gazing at the sea, sharing stories of all our explorations.Mahalo and much Aloha. Our Work
Our Work highlights XplorMor efforts to inspire the global community to explore our dynamic planet, to seek out opportunities to preserve and conserve its wonders, to build community between cultures, and to share the journey through archival photography and scientific documentation. As avid outdoors people our photography covers landscapes, wildlife, Peoples, monuments, and sites from the United States, Canada, the Caribbean and Central America to Europe, Russia and Asia. Our aim is to promote the preservation of our world, cultures, scientific and natural heritage through photography and written documentation. To date, our photographs and collected data have been used for international map publications, journal articles, travel guides, ebooks, calendars and photographic archives including several supporting UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. Most recently we traversed the Republic of Cuba to aid Biologists from the University of Georgia and Professors from the University of Havana with documenting Cuban insects. Through our work, we wish to inspire others from around the globe to get out there, photograph, explore more and share!
